a start

This week-end I was able to start on my project for the Savvy Seasons swap. I've got the top pretty much done for either a pillow or maybe a mini quilt. I may add a little more if I do a mini quilt, but still trying to decide which direction to go. What do you think, a pillow, a mini, or another suggestion??

I really love this cute little twist on the pinwheel!! It is so scrappy and fun!! My partner asked for something that could be out through all winter so there are no real Christmas fabrics, just some fun snowflakes and then some pretty Ruby, polka dots and stripes. Can you tell, my partner also likes red and aqua!?!

I am working on another project for my sweet partner but I know if I show then it will be quite a giveaway to my partner that it is for her. So I'll be waiting to show you what else I'm working on, but I have to say...it is cute!! :)

Also, have you noticed I'm getting farther behind on my FMQA blocks!! I was doing so well with keeping up this summer, but fall has certainly made me "fall" behind!! Yikes!! I'm thinking definitely of doing a lap size now, so hopefully with a few more I'll be good to start putting it together soon. Here is my most recent block~

I hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday!!

scattered hexies

while on vacation i was hexing when ever i had a moment. in the car, while watching a movie, or just lazing around. i've started making them into little grandmother flowers for a scattered hexie quilt. when i saw ashley's star quilt, i immediately put it on my list of to-do's. and how perfect with hexies!

and yep, no shocker here, as they are in red and aqua! just couldn't help myself. :)

how i travel, with a cute little suitcase!!

my first hexie flower!

i used 1 1/4 size hexies, and for stitching them together i used the whip stitch. for the whip stitch i sewed them really close together and found the stitches didn't show through for the most part.

i still need to stitch this cute one together! do you recognize some of them?? they were from tasha, who made them after my little guy cut some of my hexies; blogged here!! :)

if you are in the hexie mood, heather and i are having sign ups for the {handsome} hexies - the swap! sign-ups are open till sunday the 18th.

mini matryoshka

I stitched up this cute Russian Sweetie yesterday for part of my Urban Home Goods Swap! I think she turned out super cute!! Now to finish the dresden plate!! I only have till Friday so I'll be working on that today and tomorrow! :)

This cutie mini matryoshka (Russian Sweetie) can be found in my sil's Tasha's, etsy shop!!

For some flickr news~ The Pillow Talk Swap is now in full swing!! This is one of my favorite groups of Heather and I's. The amount of talented crafters keep growing each round, as we are at almost 100 members participating this round!! Each round I have been more astonished by the creative and fabulous pillows made!!

I made a helpful mosaic for my dear partner to give some hints of what represents my favorites!! As most know, I love red and aqua, woodland creatures including gnomies and mushrooms, and have been drooling over all the interactive piecing!!

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!!

darling dresdens!

I just started on my Urban Home Goods Swap yesterday! Yikes, the deadline is next Friday so I've been busy, busy, busy!! My partner loves gnomies, mushies and polka dots!! I am in high
H E A V E N! I decided to make two at the same time so I'll have one for me.

I used Oh Fransson's, easy peasy Dresden plate tutorial.

Aren't those red and aqua mushies sooo cute!! They were designed by my SIL, Tasha!! LOVE them!!

The second part to my swap piece is this cute little Matryoshka doll, called a Russian Sweetie. Also designed by my SIL, and is available in her Etsy shop!! You'll have to wait and see what I end up doing with her. Heather gave me the perfect idea! :)

See ya next week!

girlie quilt~ wip

We've got a baby girlie that is expected in our family next month so how fun to have an excuse to make a little quilt! The baby shower is tomorrow and I should have the quilt top done to show my sister in law, as all the blocks are almost done. I'm also doing a couple more things that I'll show in another post. :)

I've seen several quilts made with this pattern and love how simple it is! I used 4 inch squares for the middle and 2 1/2 inch strips for sashing the squares.

and a couple easter pictures!! We had such a lovely week-end with family and the kiddos had a blast with their cousins!! THANKS, Tasha, it really was a wonderful day!!

Three pretty girlie girls all in a row!! What sweet cousins, and how fun, we didn't even plan the cute dresses to match!! :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

munki munki string blocks!

I got quite a bit behind on my Munki Munki string quilt for the Quilt along. I'm now finally caught up after making 3 blocks this week. It is sooo exciting to see the four blocks together. I'm loving all the bright colors, especially with it not being my typical choice. How fun to go out of your comfort zone and try something new!

Hope you are having wonderful Wednesday!

week-end stitching

I enjoyed a little week-end stitching and started a new project for Christmas. I'm planning on making this into a little mini quilt to hang on the wall; I have this one and a few others to do from Annie's Christmas Cute set. I also ordered a couple other sets that I can't wait to get started on. I love how you get a whole set of patterns for one really reasonable price. So many possibilities that you can do many projects with!

Hope everyone has a super spectacular week!! It is a wet and rainy Seattle day so maybe I'll get some more stitchin time in. :)

mysteries at the market~ being quilted!

It took me awhile to start quilting the mysteries at the market quilt since I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the back. I finally figured it out, and went simple, and just started quilting it yesterday!! Hopefully will be done today or tomorrow. :)

I also want to let you know of a great giveaway of some lovely Amy Bulter fabrics, going on over at Lila Mae Quilts!! :)

Hope every one has a bright and sunny week-end!! It's suppose to be sunny in Seattle, and with having had rain all week, I'm ready for some sun!! :)

mysteries at the market~ the wonky star quilt

I want to thank everyone, who has come to visit my little blog, all the quilters from the quilt festival, and of course my regular readers!! I appreciate all the kind comments, and all the words of encouragement. It means so much to me, and makes quilting so fun!! I love sharing my little works of art with you!! :)

This week-end, I finally finished the quilt top of the wonky star quilt I had started awhile back, for my second daughter. Most of the fabrics are either Heather Ross's, Lightening Bugs and other Mysteries, or Denyse Shmidts, Flea Market Fancy. I love both these fabric lines and think they look so lovely together. Can't wait to get this one quilted!

Hope everyone has a spectacular week!!

double hourglass~ piecing together

i've got about half of the double hourglass blocks pieced, and am having so much fun with these little blocks. they are about 3 1/2 inch squared; i cut 5 inch charms from the flea market fancy fabrics and also from the kona white. i use half of each charm for one block, so that means i can make one for my swap partner and then one for me, to hang in my sewing room! :) i've also loved working with some brighter fabrics than i normally do.

hope everyone has a lovely week!

project improv~ a wip

i now have all the squares pieced, but still need to add the white sashing to most of them. after that, it is just sewing the sqaure together, and then quilting it. i'm starting to see this come together. :)

i love the scrappiness of this one.

hope everyone has a cheerful week-end!
