vintage planter pincushions

I need to warn you, I have a new obsession.   I love finding cute little vintage planters!   I am always on the look out for them at thrift shops and antique shops.  If I can find them for a reasonable price I snatch them up.    Awhile back after I found my first one I put a pincushion in it so I could enjoy having it on my sewing table and look at it all the time.

Now with the new ones that I find I'm starting to make them into pincushions too.  I just did a little Instagram sale last night and sold these four.

Aren't they just the sweetest!   I've got some more in the works so will have more available in couple weeks.  :)

I hope you have a lovely Thursday!  See ya soon!

Sailaway, Sailaway, Sailaway!

The last few weeks I've loved watching Jessie make her sailboat quilt on Instagram.  I knew right away that I wanted to make a sailboat quilt too.    Summertime and the beach is my absolute favorite!    With living in walking distance to the beach we go there quite a bit and it is such a peaceful place for my family.  So what better way to bring that into our home than with a lovely sailboat quilt.  :)

The free pattern can be found here.  I've changed it up a bit and am doing scrappy sailboats.  So the 2 1/2 X 4 1/2 print on the bottom of the sailboat I did 2 1/2 inch squares to keep with the scrappy look.   Also for fun I'm using the cute Mendocino, Swimming Sisters and Swim Class for the bottom strips.

I duplicated my aqua and navy blocks and made a cute little sailboat pillow.   I love being able to whip something out, especially when working on a quilt.

Then this last week-end I took my kiddos to the beach and made my first beach hexagon of the season.   I love stitching hexagons at the beach!

I thought I should also let you know why I've been absent for quite awhile.  I feel so bad I missed all of May blogging and even hadn't gotten on to let you know the winner of the Granny Square book.   I now have a little shop in a local vintage marketplace.  It has been fun creating things for a shop, and to combine my love of vintage in my space.     Also since last week, before I bring things into my little shop I've been offering them up to my Instagram followers first.   The sweet sailboat pillow went to an Instagram friend instead of going in the shop.   I'll be having a little Instagram sale hopefully tomorrow or Thursday before I head out of town on Friday.  I'll have some handmade items and some of my vintage finds.  :)  If you want to follow me on Instagram I'm sewdeerlyloved.

Now to finally let you know who the winner is of the Great Granny Square book...

Wendy, I don't see an email in your profile so please send me an email with your address.  My email is sewdeerlyloved at hotmail dot com.

Thanks so much for being so patient for me through my absents.  I'm hoping I can get better and blog more regularly.  :)

Xoxo,
