a pillow, pinwheels on point, and a winner!

Hello dear friends!!  I hope everyone had a lovely holiday last week, and was able to spend it with some loved ones!  This week has started a little slow for me as I had some medical issues come up Sunday night and was in Urgent Care yesterday morning.  With some antibiotics now in my system I'm starting to feel better!  I'm so grateful for modern medicine!   :)

Last week I started on a quilt I've had on my to-do list...Pinwheels on Point.   I adore pinwheels and it is fun to start a new scrappy quilt with them.  I also love them on point so am excited to keep going.  Here are my first 4 blocks.

I'm mostly using Leciens Antique Flower in Pastel, Flower Sugar, and some basics.

pretty, pretty colors!

Some little fabric spiders.  I don't know why I save these as I'm working on a project, but they sure do make me smile!  I never like throwing them out at the end of a project.  Silly, I know.  :)  I need to find something to do with them.

About a week ago I received the prettiest pillow from Charise!  Oh, I was so delighted and just squealed with glee when I saw who the package was from!  I knew it was the pillow I had been hoping for!  :)

I really adore the pattern, and all the little details that made it such a perfect pillow for me!

Hand stitching and white scalloped lace!!  LOVE it!!

Charise also sent a scrappy leaf key fob!   I really needed one, and it adds a little cuteness to my key chain.  :)

300th post giveaway!

I can't believe this is my 300th post!! I started my journey in blogging about my "lovely little handmades" just about 4 years ago (January will be 4 years). I've come to meet the kindest, generous, and heart warming people these past 4 years, and I am truly grateful for everyone who has helped make this time "sew" delightful! Thanks for being part of this wonderful journey with me!

For my 300th post I thought it would be fun to do a giveaway! Several of my online friends have joined me to make this an extra special giveaway. :) I'm excited to share with you what we are giving away!

Would you like to see what you can win!?!  I thought you'd say yes.  :)

My sweet friend, Heather of Vintage Grey is giving a special Tea Towel that she made especially for the giveaway! Its aqua and lime green with a pretty half dresden, vintage doily, and a lovely scallop crochet edging!  I fell in love with these the first time I saw her post them on her blog!  I have one in my kitchen and am excited I get to share this one with you!!  Isn't it so pretty!!

This one I just purchased to add a little Christmas whimsy to my kitchen!!  Heather has lots of other Christmas ones too.

I also love this sweet wilendur royal rose table runner!!  Isn't so sweet!!  Make sure to check out all her other lovely handmade pretties!  I really want them all!!  :)

My lovely friend, Amy of Diary of a Quilter is offering two of her quilt patterns!!  I adore everything Amy makes, and her style is right up my alley.    The pattern above, I really want to try, Fast Churn Dash

I really adore this fun and simple Retro Christmas pattern.  I even pinned it on Pinterest awhile back!!  I love all the sweet vintage inspired fabrics Amy used!

This is another one of my favorites, Rainbow Connection!  Such a fun and scrappy quilt!!  One on my to-do list!!  :)

My sweet friend, Emily is offering a fun and practical designer tub!!  These are so adorable and can be used for decoration or as a photo prop for your little one!   This one is the red and white polka dot one!

I'm sure to no surprise, I really adore the sweet flower sugar ones!!  This is the Aqua Paisley Rose!

This is the one that I have and really do love.  It is such a sweet accent to my home and have used it for birthday parties too.  :)

My talented friend, Tamar of Nest Pretty Things, creates the most elegant and prettiest jewelry!   Tamar is offering these Little Pink and Gold Dangle Earrings!

Aren't they so delicate and pretty!!  Swoon!!!

This is my latest piece of jewelry I've purchased from Tamar!  There isn't a time when I go out wearing one of her delicate pieces that I don't get a compliment.  They truly add that special touch to anything you wear!!   Now wouldn't those pretty earrings make a perfect accessory to the necklace!!  I may need to get one too.  :)

My amazing friend, Jeni of In Color Order is offering a wonderful Vintage Wrapped Wreath Kit!!  I have one of these and still have it on my to-do list!  Maybe we can make it together!!  :)

mmmm!!  I just love vintage sheets in a pretty vintage bowl!!  :)

I'll be giving away these lovely brand new (will be in my shop next week), Japanese Christmas fabrics.  A 1/2 yard of each of the five adorable fabrics!!  I can't wait to create something with them, and would love to see what you come up with too!!  I'll ship them once they arrive next week.

simple hexagon canvas art

My daughter and I worked on a simple hexagon canvas for her visual arts project last week.  She is in 5th grade so this project was perfect for her.  She basted all the hexagons and then we applied them to the canvas.   We also added some cute Riley Blake buttons.

She was excited to be able to use some of her Aunt Tasha's new fabric!  The cute little girls are her favorite and she loved picking out which ones would fit on the hexagons.

When applying them, we kept the paper in so it would be easier to super glue them to the canvas.

She asked me when we were done if I was going to take pictures of it.  I told her I would if she wanted, and she happily wanted me to.   I guess she is so use to me taking pictures of all my sewing projects she wanted to make sure hers would get special attention too.  :)

I can't wait to do more hexagons in the future with my daughter.  It was so exciting to see her enjoyment as we were working together!    Memories I will now cherish.

See you soon!

sweet n' shabby tote bag

This last week I realized that I really needed a new tote bag.  My one from Amy, that I have loved and adored, had sadly seen its day... so to the sewing room I went!  I had started on some sweet little hexie flowers awhile back and thought they would be the perfect start.  I just needed a few more so stitched them up while at my kiddos swim lessons.  I love how you can take hexies anywhere!

Have you seen Amy's last tote bag she made for Erin?   This bag is inspired by that one!!

Last month my Aunt gave me the most gorgeous vintage lace. She had gotten them from her mom as she owned an antique shop.  I was so excited to receive a large box full of the prettiest lace!!  Oh, it was like Christmas!

Aren't they so pretty!?!  This is just a small sampler of what she gave me.

I had bought these sweet Atsuko Matsuyama strawberry handles in the summer and was excited to use them!!  I think they added the perfect touch.

I added some simple red and aqua stitching around each flower.

Ready to go shopping now!  Hee Hee! ;)

I took a picture of 6 different sizes of hexie flowers.   As you can tell here the smallest one, 1/4 inch are really tiny.  It was fun making all the different sizes!

I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!
