hexagon hand stitching

This last week I started a simple little project with one of my new favorite fabrics from the Old New 30's collection.  The hexagon cheater print!!  I adore the sweet prints and the colors are absolutely perfect so it was a perfect project to have on hand.  When outside watching the kids play or while watching a movie with my husband this has been my go to project this week.  Perfect for when life is so busy and I are not able to sit at the sewing machine.  :)

I'm using red, turquoise, yellow and pink embroidery floss on each hexagon. One of my favorite parts to hand stitching is watching it get puffy.

This week-end we had some of perfect May weather with it being in the mid 70's and low 80's.   We were outside for most of it to enjoy the sun!!  On Saturday we did a 5 mile hike with the kiddos.   I absolutely love taking hikes with the family.   Enjoying nature at its fullest while being able to pass that to your kids it so full filling to me.

My six kiddos and a friend!

Wishing you a most fabulous week!!

Hugs,

  6. I love the look of the embroidery floss. It looks like you are using several strands of floss and I'm just wondering how you bury the knot. I'm thinking it would make a big hole trying to pull it through the fabric to bury it in the batting, but then again maybe I'm wrong ;) Any advice would be appreciated :)
    Thanks

    1. Hi Tina,

I don't bury the knots. All my knots you can see on the backside of the layers. I've done that with a couple other pillows and have never had any problems. :)

  7. I don't call them cheater - preprinted sound better. Lovely kids, lovely site. I invite you to link to Hexie Friday - I think a lot of quilters would love to have a quick project from that preprinted panel. Thanks for sharing.
