simple hexagon canvas art

My daughter and I worked on a simple hexagon canvas for her visual arts project last week.  She is in 5th grade so this project was perfect for her.  She basted all the hexagons and then we applied them to the canvas.   We also added some cute Riley Blake buttons.

She was excited to be able to use some of her Aunt Tasha's new fabric!  The cute little girls are her favorite and she loved picking out which ones would fit on the hexagons.

When applying them, we kept the paper in so it would be easier to super glue them to the canvas.

She asked me when we were done if I was going to take pictures of it.  I told her I would if she wanted, and she happily wanted me to.   I guess she is so use to me taking pictures of all my sewing projects she wanted to make sure hers would get special attention too.  :)

I can't wait to do more hexagons in the future with my daughter.  It was so exciting to see her enjoyment as we were working together!    Memories I will now cherish.

See you soon!

  7. So cute! Did she baste them with glue? I'm looking for a project to do with my 5th grader's class for individual auction items that the parent would buy and this might just be perfect!

    1. Hi Kris,

Thanks for your sweet comment! We basted them the normal way, with thread. I'm sure fabric glue would work too. :)

  9. When I was shopping for my mom online today I saw these dishtowels and immediately thought of you and Lori Holt. They are so up your alley and not that expensive.

There are other matching things but I really liked these dishtowels. If only they'd go with my kitchen!
