a little sewing lesson!

last week i had the pleasure to spend an afternoon with my sweet sil and teach her how to sew. it was her first time at the sewing machine, and she picked up on everything so quickly. we made a simple little patchwork pillow, and it turned out F A B U L O U S!! we used the oh so yummy, early bird fabric from cosmo cricket! i just love how it turned out. i think i enjoyed our little sewing adventure just as much as she did!

i left her with a little homework, to make a matching strip pillow. i can't wait to see it when it's done!! THANKS trina, for letting me share a piece of what i LOVE!

  6. How lovely and what a special time to share. My SIL lives in Korea ~ so sadly I do not get to share these special times with her.
Love the pillow. Well done you for teaching your SIL to sew.

  7. Somewhere in my mother's house is a nine-patch pillow just like that, that was my first project. Well, just like that except mine was lumpy pink and green (oh, how I agonized over picking out just the right fat quarters for that), but still, a great first project.

  11. It's lovely! I'm making a throw 'rug' out of the same fabric- it's nice to see how well they work together on a finished piece!

  13. Finished my HW :) I have a pic of it on fb if you want to take a look Kerri. I was scared... the strips turned out HORRIBLY crooked, but somehow I managed to save it when I sewed the back on. Isabella loves looking at it :)
