granny squares quilt top!

eek!! I am beyond excited that my granny square quilt top is done!! I think it may be my favorite quilt thus far. It was such a fun quilt to make and really like how the Essex linen makes the fabrics so soft and pretty!! It was a bit harder working with the linen rather than Kona that I'm use to with this size of quilt. The seams are a bit bulkier so the blocks are a little under 9 inches. It also made the ironing a bit more of a task but I think it was well worth it. :)



I love quilts blowing in the wind!  There was just a slight breeze.  


Last week I had two more to finish up so I thought I'd take a close-up of them.  I was needing a little more blue and green to balance the quilt out a little.   I really like how the blue and pink one turned out!

This week-end my girls had a camp-out with their Girl Scouts troop so we took the boys up to the Tulip Festival, and they sure had a lovely day!  It was so fun seeing them run up and down the isles enjoying the beauty of nature!



And me matching with the red tulips.  :)


Now to decide whether I should start sandwiching and quilting the granny squares quilt top or maybe put together another quilt top.  Maybe this one, or this one?? It is always so fulfilling to get a quilt top put together.   hmmm, what do you think?

    The linen is perfect with these blocks. It is the prettiest I've seen!! Just beautiful!
    You can't go wrong picking anyone of those first :^)

    Your granny quilt top is beautiful! This bunny on a line fabric is too cute, can you tell me what it is?
    I would either finish the granny quilt or make the pinwheel quilt perhaps in other colors. Hildy

    You are so cute! What fabric is the 30s repro in the hedgie block? It's blue & red right under the green flower sugar. Thanks.

      thanks!! :) that blue and red repro fabric is from fat 8ths and friends by in the beginning fabric. i think it was printed in 2008.

    Quilt and bind it is my advice! Yes a finished top is exciting but a finished quilt you can use is much more satisfying!!! (Having just finished one myself, and I can't wait to finish the next quilt in my line-up, even though I too have other tops to sew.)

      Hi Alisa,

      The Tulip Festival is in Mt. Vernon, right next to La Conner. La Conner had a parade that day so we got to enjoy that too. :)

    I adore this quilt..love the grey background..I have got to make this pattern..your babies are adorable, and you are a cute little mama. Enjoy them, life flies by and you will be amazed when you are a grandmother, just how fast it all went by...

    Kerri, I am a hard-core white fabric lover. But I just can't imagine your quilt being any prettier that it does with that lovely taupe linen. I can't decide if it looks more vintage or more modern this way! Bit it doesn't matter ... it is simply stunning. :)

    I never would've thought to do it with linen, but it looks fabulous!

    The tulip festival looks like a wonderful time. I visited one last year near where we lived and it was so neat seeing all the different kinds.

    Oh what a pretty quilt top! I just love the colors you have chosen and the blowing in the wind adds even more charm to your pictures. :o)
