i couldn't resist...

...the Scrappy Trip Along!  All the lovely scrappy blocks popping up all over blogland had really got me wanting to make a quilt too.  After seeing Aneela's on facebook and a little encouragement I went for it, and LOVE it!!  The process is so fun and simple.   Here you can find the tutorial if you'd like to join in too.

Though once I started I had a hard time stopping.  I ended up making 4 after the kiddos went to bed.

My inspiration was the pillow I made last year for Kylie.  Remember how I wasn't sure if I should keep the black in or not.  I was so glad I did and it is one of my favorite pillows I've made, so why am I  now having the same doubts.  Maybe with it being a larger block it doesn't look right with the dark text print?  Uggh!

I was going to make my next block with the black seed catalogue but don't know if I should???  What do you think?

 Here are the blocks individually~

So now to decide whether to keep going with adding the dark text prints.  I think I'll do one without dark now and wait to see what you think before I go forward with more dark.  :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful week-end!  Next week my kiddos go back to school so it will be nice to be back to a schedule!

  1. I do like it ...but when I look at the whole lot ...I think you should go with more red....in that one block .....I adore scrap quilts...

  3. I wouldn't stress about the black at this point. If you're making a throw or larger, it won't seem as prominent as it does with just the four blocks. I think you'll be glad you kept it.

  4. You need at least one more with black to make it work...at least, that's what I think...

  6. I have a similar dilemma in mine. I think it's important to have some small contrast so some of mine will include balc for overall balance. Love how yours is progressing!

  16. I'm wondering how well it'd convert over to hexies? Am I fool enough to do it? Probably!

  17. Oh that looks like a lot of fun, I want to make one to. That could be a good way to use up really small pieces of fabric to, hmm.

  18. I think if you did at least one *more* block with the black in it, it won't look like it sticks out so much. Lovely blocks and colors either way!

  19. I think it will look great either way!...but my preference would be to keep the black out.

  20. I like all of the blocks but agree with other comments that you will need to have more with black fabrics in them so you can sprinkle them throughout the quilt. I think the dark splashes would look quite dramatic and be a great contrast to the other lovely fabrics you have chosen.

  21. Your blocks are beautiful. It's a scrap quilt - as it grows use other dark colours to balance out the black. I want to make this quilt too.

  24. Maybe try a print that is black on white? Like black text on white. The print you used is very black. Maybe you'll like it if it's more subtle? (Nothing like vicarious sewing!)
