i ♥ granny!

Have you seen these lovely granny squares popping up all over blogland!?! I think I've pinned a half dozen of them in the last month!! I absolutely LOVE them!! So of course, it had to go to the top of my list!! Last week I started cutting all my squares... lots and lots of squares, like a bazillion!! Then this last week-end I started sewing some blocks together!

The granny square block is from Blue Elephant Stitches and she has a fabulous tutorial!! If you'd like to make some too, Old Red Barn Co. is having a quilt along that starts in March!! I can't wait to see other peoples versions!! I love how there are tons of possibilities!! For my quilt, I decided to go with Essex natural for the background instead of white...as it is always fun to switch it up a bit. Though, I really do love it both ways!!

Here are some of the individual blocks!!
Aqua and White

Red and Yellow

Pink and Aqua

Red and White

Yellow and Blue

I really love this block!! I think it may be my favorite so far!! I'm a bit surprised as it isn't my normal favorite color combo!! ;)

Red and Aqua

So, I've done 12 so far, and have 8 more to go!! Whoo Hoo!! I would definitely advise cutting all your squares first, as I think it really helps with being able to put them together pretty quickly!

Hopefully I'll get the rest of the blocks done this week!! It has been hard to stop sewing them, as they are quite addicting!! :)

  21. four little munchkins,

that fabric is an older japanese fabric. i received a small piece of it in a swap so i'm not even sure which company made it as there wasn't even a selvedge on it. it also has little bears on the fabric so i'm assuming it is a 3 little bears fairytale fabric. i just fussy cut the little girl since she is so sweet!
