keeping it real

I loved reading Heather's blog yesterday, and finding out a few new things I didn't know. Even with her being my bff and talking to her everyday, I didn't know she was afraid of cougars. I thought it would be fun to follow suit and do a post on "keeping it real".

I've been blogging for a year now, and have loved meeting the most amazing friends. At first when blogging it was only about what I made for my family and home, but now it has taken a new direction. With all the swaps, bees, and trying to get in a little personal sewing as well, it makes for even more fun! Through all this, I've really met the most amazing people!

Fun Facts~

I was born in Tehran, Iran when my Dad was there working for Boeing. Maybe that is why I love to travel, and enjoyed living in Shanghai, China. Though, I know it is shameful. I never saw the great wall.

I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 12 years.

I have six kiddos (9,8,6,4,2. and 18 months). I have to say, I think they are the cutest!!

I taught Montessori for almost 10 years and thought I knew it all. Raising my own was going to be so easy. Oh, boy have my children proved me wrong.

One of my favorite places is Nauvoo, Illinois. When we lived in Iowa we only lived 45 minutes from Nauvoo, and I loved visiting every chance we could.

I love to ski!

I am terrified of semi trucks. Every time we pass one on the freeway my heart skips a beat.

I am an animal lover. We have a Collie named Charlie, and a fish. Charlie is as big as a horse! LOL! He keeps the kiddos in check, and the moment they start running he barks to let me know, and tries to herd my flock of sheep.

I love thrift shopping and think I'm pretty resourceful, thanks to my mom! If there is something that I'm looking for or want, I usually can find it for a great price.

We love outings. The spring and summer is the time we love to go to zoos, parks, beaches, and little road trips. Yep, even with six kiddos. :) Last summer my 9 year old told me in the car as we were driving to the beach, "we are the family that goes lots of places". That was one of the best things to hear. I'm so glad we are creating many great memories for them.

I'm normally a quiet person but love hanging out with family. Family is so dear to me!

I consider myself to be a very loyal person, and will be there to the end if they will take me as I am, even with my imperfections. If we focus on the positives with each relationship we have, we can truly be happy.

I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. Wish I lived close to all of them!

Heather and I would also enjoy if you "Keep it Real" and blog to share a little of yourself too. Make sure to come back and let me know if you have so I can visit your blog too.

PS. My next post will be my 100th post so make sure to keep checking back as it will be a GIVEAWAY!

  14. What a great post. You just inspired me to finally get off my bum and post something on my own blog. I started it months ago, but I haven't yet posted anything, since I didn't know how I wanted to start. It's been on my to-do list for months now. I follow both you and Heather's blogs and I love them both. Thank you ladies for all the inspiration you bring to the "crafting community". Keep up the good work.

  33. Good grief, six kids, and how, might I inquire, do you manage to say so young and healthy looking!?! I had two, and now that they are grown I blame them for every worry line on my getting older by the month face!

You must have discovered the secret, let the rest of us in on it!

  34. I now, finally at the age of 33 am ok. with looking young. :) As a teenager I hated being 17 and people saying I looked like I was 12. Maybe since I'm small in stature, is why I look young, I'm not sure. That picture of me with my daughter at the zoo, I was pregnant with my 5th, and we got soooo many stares that day. It was almost embarresing. For the first time when we were out this week, my daughter said "Mom, why are they staring at us?" For looking so young and having so many kids the most commen questions we get are- "Are they all yours?", and "Are you done yet?" :) I take it all lightly, though.
