This week I've been able to work on my scrappy trip along and have had lots of fun! I think it is one of my favorite blocks to make. Such a fun and simple process and you can't stop at just one block! Thanks so much for all your ideas and words of encouragement from my last post!
As you can see I kept the dark block and made some more with black and charcoal. It think it is really going to add a great contrast which is what this type of quilt is suppose to have.
To go a little faster I've started to do 3-4 at a time. I love being able to add that many to the layout at one time. Instant enjoyment!!
I did a couple layouts as I wasn't sure if I liked the black really scattered. I thought it would be fun to have a couple of the diamonds really pop. What do think, do you like the dark blocks scattered or together? Here is a picture of them scattered~
This week I found a lovely crocheted diamond afghan at a thrift store so I thought I'd show you! I love quilted ones, and a crochet one is just as beautiful! Isn't it lovely!
I've also enjoyed taking my boys to the library. It had been awhile since we had gone and it is great to get back to going regularly again! It is such a peaceful place to spend a little part of your day! Here are some of the books I've been enjoying. I have several projects I can't wait to start!
I hope everyone had a lovely week and wishing you a wonderful week-end!
I like the black scattered. You do such a lovely job, and I always love your fabric choice. I love to quilt, but don't know what to do with them all when they are done. What do you suggest?
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn,
DeleteI don't have a ton of quilts as I don't get that many done throughout the year (I've been quilting for a few years now), so we mainly use them throughout the house. Some are as baby gifts so those ones I giveaway. :)
The black scattered is very appealing in my opinion as well:) Such a FAB find you made snatching that diamond star blanket!!
ReplyDeleteYou convinced me to make a scrappy trip around the world also, I've made four blocks so far, I've decided that I will change my mind a million times before I make the quilt and I'll just decide when I have all of the blocks made on how to place them.
ReplyDeleteScattered is very pretty but I find something very lovely about the first picture as well...anyway you do it will be the perfect way!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'm going to want to make one when I see yours finished!
Looking good! I think I like the second arrangement better. I'm up to 16 blocks, haven't decided what to aim for yet.
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful! Keeping going with the darker fabrics they adding a lot of interest to your quilt.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Hildy
You can't go wrong with either layout, but I like the black together better. I love using scraps for this pattern!
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty, and I love the touch of black throughout!! Such a sweet diamond afghan!! Love the colors and cute stripes!! Have a great weekend! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteI like them together, it looks really good! I think I have to make one of these to, it looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThis is looking beautiful! I like both arrangements but might like the first one better.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so gorgeous, Kerri! I love the colours...and I love the black together....the contrast is really effective.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!

I've been working on this project on the sly...not blogged about it and have about 30 blocks finished. I think I want to make my quilt queen size for the guest bed. So I have a bit to go. But I've been putting in some contrast too. I don't like all one color value like med or dark. LIghts have to be part of this project, too. I love yours the mostest!
ReplyDeleteKerri, it looks great! Maybe I will get to that kind of quilt after my hexie flower quilt :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great! how will you quilt it? Those books also look enjoyable. NOthing better than relaxing with a book, enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLove the dark fabric ...I like the pop of color .... And I am in love with the crocheted blanket!! I've just been inspired. I've never seen that pattern ... Thanks!

Hi Donna,

Hi Kerri, have just found your blog. I can't believe that crocheted afgan!! I did a double take! Just gorgeous! I'll be back. Cheers, Meredithe.
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri,
ReplyDeleteI think I like the scattered best, but both look great! I love your blog btw! And that afghan is TERRIFIC!!! So jealous! Also, I have the Fresh From the Clothesline book and just love it too!!
How are you planning on quilting this quilt? I am working on one too and can't decide how I want to quilt it. I am thinking about hand tying it because my fabrics are older vintage and thought maybe the hand tying would go along well with the scappyness. Cant wait to see yours finished! Have fun!
ola Kerri, sua familia e voce são especiais, parabens pelo lindo blog.
