I am technically halfway finished with my Farmers Wife Sampler blocks if I do a throw size. I have 25 done and only have 25 more to go. I'm having so much fun with these that I may go bigger. That will be a big step for me as I've always been scared to go bigger than a lap size because the quilting would be quite a big task!! I've only quilted a lap/throw size!! I think the Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt might just give me the courage to try!!

I absolutely adore the colors you are using...so sweet! And I LOVE that you are doing this on point! Adds a lot of interest...very nice :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! ;0
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks! The fabrics and prints are so sweet!!! I think you should be brave and go big =D
ReplyDeleteThey're beautiful! I'm afraid to do a big quilt for the same reason. So I crank out the lap quilts and wall hangings.
ReplyDeleteI got the book last week and couldn't see past the browns and creams - how wonderful to see them in such a beautiful colour-way. have you used a particular range of fabrics or just anything red, aqua and white???
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are fabulous and I can surely understand while you're thinking of making it bigger! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your finished quilt but fingers crossed you do a queen size!!!
lovin it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri,
ReplyDeleteI jumped on the FMQA bandwagon kind of late. I love your blocks. I just started quilting this past winter. Late spring I made a quilt for my bed (all pinwheels...dear lord) that was between queen and king sized. I quilted it myself. I love your work and consider you to be an expert...you can do it!
It looks amazing! I say to go bigger! What fabric is the little girl and the mushroom in the evening star block?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks delicious. I know that's a weird word to describe a quilt, but well, it looks DELICIOUS! :)
ReplyDeleteGo big or go home, girl! You'll love having this in a bigger quilt size. It's so special. I've quilted twin and full-sized quilts on my little Pfaff hobby machine and it was fine. Don't be afraid. You can do it!
I love your blocks!! So cute ;)
ReplyDeleteKerri, I love love love your Contrary Wife block... so cute! I ordered some of that Atsuko fabric for myself, I've been wanting it for such a long time. beatiful blocks, girl! xo amy
ReplyDeleteI say make it bigger. I quilt larger quilts on my machine, and it is nothing special. It does take longer, but it's totally doable! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI love the blocks and would love to see more of them. I say bigger!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for your encouraging words!! :)
ReplyDeletecaroline, some of the fabrics are from leciens 30's old new collection, some are from annies farm stand by lakehouse, some are from vintage sheets, and then the others are pretty much from my red and aqua stash.
cre8tivecrys, the little girl and mushroom fabric is a spoonflower fabric designed by my sister in law tasha. her shop it closed right now but it looks like she'll re-open in september. :) here is a link to her shop~

I just finished quilting a very large quilt (in the ditch) and it prompted me to further investigate Quilt as You Go. I'm definitely going to try that next time. Your beautiful quilt would be perfect for that if you plan to put sashing between the blocks. I'm going to use QAYG as an opportunity to practise my free motion quilting. Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteOf all the Farmer's Wife quilt blocks I've seen in blogland, yours are my favourite! It's going to be amazing no matter what size you decide to make it, but would make a stunning bed quilt.
ReplyDeleteI agree, these are my favorites and I'm even doing the QAL too, I like yours WAY better than mine. The fabic combos and the fussy cutting is so perfect together.
ReplyDeleteThe first quilt I ever made, I didn't realize how big it was going to be and it turned out to be a twin! I quilted that sucker myself and while it was harder than a lap quilt, it wasn't that bad! You can do it!! And it's awesome to lay completely under your own quilt that you made 100% yourself. I can't wait to see yours finished!
They are looking perfect! Love the colour combination and the little sizes. Big is soooo scary, I know!
ReplyDeleteKerri,
ReplyDeleteI just don't know how to say just how much I love your blocks. They're gorgeous. It is so fascinating to me how your blocks are predominantly red/aqua but your little additions of pink & yellow etc. just add something magical. I can hardly wait to see this all done! Thanks for the lovely eye candy. :)
Of course you can do it! It's really not that hard, just a bit bulky at times :)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are looking beautiful all together. If you are still having fun with it, I say GO FOR IT!!!
I love the colours in your blocks. The fabric is just beautiful. I'd love to know where you get your fabric from. I look forward to seeing it finished x
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri, I love your style and your red and aqua :) I too have only made as large as a laptop quilt, and I have decided to make a queen size out of the farmer's wife blocks, for my guest room. I am so excited, and I think you should make yours larger too. It is too much fun to stop now, and I love your colors and prints! Thanks for inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteOh I love those colours!!! It looks absolutely divine!
ReplyDeleteThey are looking fantastic and you've done so many. They look so modern and fresh in the colour palette you're using
