the scrappy squares quilt

On Friday I finished my project improv quilt!! Thanks Jacquie for inspiring so many of us to quilt improvisational.

Last week, I kept debating on whether to use minkee for the back, since I got a little worried with a few of the comment on how difficult minkee can be. I did go with the minkee thanks to Allie, and her encouragment!! I'm so glad I did, since it is so soft.

My cute little guy hopped on in when I was taking pictures, and was pointing to the quilt.

Here is a picture of the back. I did a bit larger of a stipple, thinking it might help with the minkee. Also, using my ironing board while quilting it helped it to not hang and pull. Since minkee stretches quite a bit, I think that really helped. I will definatley be doing many more quilts with minkee!! :)

The end!!

i'd love to hear about your minkee experience. jon wants minkee on the back of his graduation quilt...boys who love soft things keep that love as they grow up! i was going to quilt it with muslin on the back and then put the minkee back on. let me know any tips or tricks you learned. thanks.
