strawberries & a giveaway!!


This last week-end we had such a wonderful time going strawberry picking!! It is one of my favorite summer activities. With the season being late because of weather, we were lucky to still get to go in the middle of July!! We've had fun making jam, pies, and strawberry crepes with them already!! :) For my fwqa blocks I've done a couple basket blocks with using some sweet little strawberry fabrics, along with a cute block using some of the Little Strawberry fabric!! It has been a fantastic week so far!! How can it not when you are surrounded by strawberries, sewing, and cute little ones!!

    Most of summer I like sitting in the garden, the warm sun shining at my face, birds singing, white clouds at the sky, feeling like summer.

    I'm also a follower. Speaking of strawberries, it reminds me that this time of year my Mom would seal some cut strawberries in a tight container with some sugar to draw out the juices. Fabulous with ice cream, pie, a little milk or just plain. Yum!

    So many things I love about summer: swimming in a lake, fruit picking (I went raspberry and blueberry picking this morning... the strawberries are finished here), picnics. It's hard to choose one favorite thing!

    I love the 4th of July and spending time with family outside playing during the day and into the night and watching the fireworks. Summer has a way of making you feel free and like a kid again. Now that my daughter is two I love sharing the summer fun with her.

    What I love most about summer is in fact all the harvest possibilities and jams, spreads, canning....NOTHING beats a fresh ripe juicy strawberry. Basically, the produce of summer is one of highlights of the season!

    Bike rides!! We live right next to a really awesome park that runs along a river. Throw the kids in the bike trailer and just ride for miles . . . pretty sweet. :)

    Given that we have the highest rate of sun cancer in the world...i love summer. I love the beach, the seagulls, messages of childhood come rushing back, late afternoon naps beside the sea side, seagull sounds lulling me to sleep. I love the water, anything to do with it, will eventually go back to living near the water. Hopefully soon we will buy close to a spot we are looking at. I could never live too far from water....i do cover up though!!

    BERRIES!!! Anyone in my family would tell you that a happy day for me in the summer is spent in my garden eating raspberries,blackberries,blueberries and an ocassional strawberry (I can't grow them like our local neighborhood strawberry stand!)     I love getting off work at 3, going home to hang at the pool with my hubby, taking the big fuzzy dog on a walk, and then just chilling together for the evening.... lovely summer evenings :)

    I love going to our cottage on Lake Erie in the summer. It is just the most relaxing place in the world. Swing on the oak tree or sit on the front porch and watch the kids going to and from the lake. Wonderful. Kathie L in Allentown

    This may sound corny, but my favorite thing about summer is having my daughters home all day. I miss then when they go to school and I love just hanging out with them - no schedules or obligations. Just doin' what we want to do.

    I just loved seeing the moist juciness of those strawberries. And your fabric giveaway makes my mouth water too! My favorite thing about summer? Knowing I can have fresh tomatoes - fried green tomatoes, grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches, tomatoes stuffed with tuna salad, bacon/lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Oh my....my mouth IS watering!!!
