may day giveaway!


May is one of my favorite months in Washington. All the trees are blossoming, the sun is out often, there is a bit of a cool breeze in the air and all the grass is green!! To top it off, every year there is the May Day giveaway from Sew, Mama, Sew!! This is my third year participating and it seems like every year gets better!! I can't wait to browse all the lovely blogs!!

This year I'll be giving away some lovely Sugar and Spice laminate from Riley Blake. This week-end we up-cycled a vintage stool that I had found at a thrift store and for the cushion, we covered it with the red floral laminate!! I just love how you can wipe all those little dirty smudges from the wee ones!! Easy as one, two, three!!

The pretty laminates~

Four half yards~ sugar main, sugar floral, red and aqua polka dots and white and red polka dots!!

The oh, so pretty upcycled stool~

I love how the step stool turns up into the stool!! For the steps, we first painted them aqua and then covered them with foil and painted the rest!! A lovely tip I found on pinterest!!

The stool before it got a little face lift!!

There are many other creative things you could do with laminate, such as making a pretty tote bag, or cover table tops. You could also use it for making aprons, diaper bags, or for covering chairs!!

    I'm back in Malaysia since 1984 but what I remember about spring is when we have outings with the girl scouts. I still remember (not the details) one year, my mum and I went to a play in town and we had a meal there. It was wet but I just love that memory. I wish we could have a way to make the full memory come out. I want to see the whole thing play out again.

    My favourite thing about spring is sitting in the garden, drinking tea and enjoying all the flowers starting to come out around me. I just love being outside again after a long winter trapped indoors!

    here in los angeles, the jacaranda trees are all in bloom, and they have these beautiful, vibrant purple flowers. some streets are lined with them, and it's just so beautiful!

    I like that Spring ends in Summer... weird, but my favorite thing about it! The world starts to thaw, you get a lot of rain, but all of a sudden things brighten up, flowers appear, and before you know its beach and picnic time! :)

    My favorite thing about spring is getting out and about more (trips to the park, picnics, watching the kids play) before it gets sweltering hot or too buggy, however we have had nothing but rain here lately, and it is really putting a damper on our fun. But we are still enjoying those little breaks when we can!

    My favorite part of Spring would have to be when the sun actually appears from behind the rain clouds (which isn't often in Kodiak). Laminate fabric would make the perfect for a bag rainy weather.

    Since I live on a fairly seasonless island, the only thing that really distinguishes Spring for me is the days start getting longer. I love it when it's light & the birds are singing by 5:30 in the morn.

    Those laminates are lovely i would never have thought of using them to cover a chair with or to make a bag. that's one of the reasons i love blogland for the ideas and inspiration.     I love smelling the lilacs. I have been running outside lately because it has been so nice and smelling those lilacs blowing in the wind is amazing.

    Ooh, what a pretty combination. My favorite thing about spring is everything finally turning green again. I grew up in WA and now live on the East Coast, everything looks so dead until the trees finally get leaves!
