cathedral windows

This last week-end I started on some cathedral windows.    Learning to make them had been on my list for years and am so excited I finally got the courage to try.   I read at least 10 different tutorials and took parts from about 4 or 5 of them, and they were not nearly as bad as I thought they'd be.


One of the tutorials even mentioned that she wasn't sure if she'd ever make them again.  Yikes!!  That scared me a bit.    I think reading so many and taking tips from several of them really helped.  I even did a couple extra things that I think made my method fun and stress free.


I fussy cut some of the squares and think those are my favorite ones!   I have one more set to make to do a pillow and am thinking this may be for my Pillow Talk Swap. 
 


I'm considering that maybe I'll post a tutorial if you'd like to see the way I did mine.  What do you think?   Can there be too many cathedral window tutorials out there?


On Saturday I found this sweet vintage Little Deer book at a vintage market, and then when I cam home I had this sweet ornament in the mail from Erin, of Why not Sew?   Aren't they so sweet!!

    That is ADORABLE!!! There can never be too many tutorials. I make cathedral windows all the time for pincushions, but have never been brave enough to sew them together....I'd love to read about your tips and tricks!! I really would love to have a pillow JUST LIKE THAT :) xoxo

    just love your windows and there can never be too many tutorials - especially as you liked making them which means you'll have a very positive spin !! love that adorable little book and ornament :)

    Oh my goodness I was scrolling through new posts on bloglovin on my phone and this just absolutely jumped out at me!!! I love this, it's beautiful! Yes, please do a tutorial!!! I do the exact same thing. I read tutorials and then find my own way to do it. I can't believe how fortuitous this is I picked up a fabric at Joann's that is a mini cathedral windows print. I'm blanking on the designer but it is one that I would expect to find in a quilt shop. I planned on making regular size cathedral windows in bright colors just like the print and then border it with the fabric. And speaking of fabrics you picked the absolute cutest ones as always! Totally OT but I'm using voice software to type and cathedral came out as "because the troll"! :-)

    I would love a tutorial. This is a design that I have often thought of trying but scares me a little. Especially as you have been through a few tutorials to work out the best way then yours would be extra helpful. The cushion is just beautiful.

    Very pretty! I've made a couple of Cathedral Windows pillows. They weren't difficult per se, but very time consuming. Love yours!

    This looks fabulous! I love that you used a low volume for your neutral and then fussy cut your squares! Gorgeous. I made a very large cathedral window pillow cover and the process was not difficult. That being said. It will be a while before I get back into that. Just because I have SO many other things on my list. lol :) However, there is always room for a new and updated tutorial. It will be great!

    I LOVE THE LOOK OF YOURS. i HAVE BEEN COLLECTING SQUARES TO START ONE. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANOTHER TUTORIAL AS I AM HESITANT TO START.
