One of the best parts of taking road trips is being able to work on hexies. I finished my June block and then also started on my July block.
My June block!
My July block! I think I'm going to really like this one. Some of these fabrics are my favorites!
While in Iowa we went to the pool a couple times so brought along my hand stitching.
I also was able to start on my Sewing Room Swap project. I love pretty hexie flowers and these will make a great wall hanging or pillow.
Since we've been home we've gone to the beach several times. Now I'm stitching the hexies flowers together. :)
A geyser at West Thumb. My kiddos didn't really like going and seeing the geysers as they have a very strong smell. I hope they eventually remember their spectacular beauty.
Old Faithful
The grand canyon of Yellowstone! It was beautiful!!
Mammoth Hot Springs
I loved going to a couple of my favorite antique shops while in Iowa! It made the trip complete. :)
Here are some of the lovely vintage finds. I see there was an aqua and pink theme with what I ended up purchasing. Hee Hee!
I found a couple vintage quilts. I love the feedsack one!
A close-up of some of the pretty feedsacks!
I also found a fabulous rough postage stamp quilt!
When I got home I found this lovely antique gate. I love the rustic red and aqua paint!
This pretty pouch is from my sweet and talented friend Amy! Thanks so much!! It is so lovely!!
There was much more that we did but it is hard to get it all in one blog post. Though, I'm glad I was able to share a little of my trip with you. :)
Hugs,
What is that adorable fabric in the pink pyrex with the sweet little duck with an umbrealla?
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
DeleteThe duck with umbrella is an Atsuko Matsuyama fabric. I found it on Etsy. I think it is so cute. :)
If you don't mind me asking, where are your favorite antique stores in Iowa? I'll be moving back to SD soon and will be starting to enjoy more antique trips with my mom - we love learning about new places and stores to explore!
ReplyDeleteHi Heidi,
DeleteMy favorite places to go in Iowa for antiquing are Kalona, Pella, and the Amana Colonies! They all have several great ones! Also, in Donnellson there is one called Apple Tree Antiques that I love. :)

Sounds like a good trip! I love your new picture editing /personalised watermark. Would you share?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet comment! All these pictures were taken in my IPhone. I usually takes my pictures using the Photo Toaster app and then use that app to edit them. The text is from the Rhonna Farrer app. :)
DeleteHi Kerri!
ReplyDeleteWhat fabric is the navy with flowers and dots surrounding the kerchief girl? So cute. Love your hexies.
Jamie Marie
Hi Jamie,
DeleteThe navy with flowers and dots says MBT on the selvedge. I found it on Etsy. I think it was from the lady's stash. I have one that is on a white background with red dots that is exactly the same and that was from several years ago that sold at Joanns. I'm pretty sure the navy must have sold at the same time at Joanns.
Kerri,
ReplyDeleteHi my name is patti and I do business as sun y on etsy. I bought some fabrics from you before a big road trip my family and I were taking around july4. I am laughing while looking at your pics because our road trip was to Yellowstone! Crazy! We were out west from July 4-16! I made 400 hexies while we traveled with all that great fabric I bought from you!!! Wasn't Yellowstone amazing! I laughed while looking at these pics of your because I have like the exact same pics. The sulphur smell was strong wasn't it! Your fun fabrics made my trip with my family even more memorable ! I just wanted to share....we were prob there together and didn't even know it :)
Patti

Don't be too impressed....while the hexies are made they still aren't in "flowers" yet :). Yes....your fabric made it so fun!!
