This week I was able to quilt and bind my patchwork Christmas quilt! It always feels so fabulous to finish a quilt, especially a Christmas one!
I added a couple borders, Cherry Christmas, Holly and a solid aqua. For the binding I used Robert Kaufmans, Pimatex basics red and white polka dot. I love how soft Pimatex is. In this picture below my sweet little guy is doing his very best to hold it up for me. :)
The finished size is 48 1/2 X 60. Perfect to snuggle under on these cold winter nights.
For the backing I used an aqua and white floral vintage sheet. I left the white border and lace edging on the vintage sheet to give it a sweet little touch.
I think it turned out cute, but how could it not with such cutsie Christmas fabric! :)
Love it with the light shining through!
With a couple winter and Christmas pillows!
I thought I'd show you what I did with a few of the vintage glass ornaments I showed you last week. I hung a few from a bow and ric rac on my vintage up-cycled mirror.
I love how it adds the perfect Christmas touch to the mirror!
I also found a cute vintage Christmas tablecloth this last week! I eyed it from way down the aisle at my favorite thrift store and made a mad dash run for it to make sure I got it before anyone else. ;)
My favorite vintage find this week are these adorable little pixie NOEL candle holders! Aren't they so precious!! I adore them!
I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful holiday season! I'm off to work on a Christmas pillow I started yesterday. :)
Hugs,

Kerri, This is my first time to visit your blog, but it won't be my last. My friend send me to see the darling quilt you just made and it is beautiful! I am the artist of the fabrics that you used in the quilt (the children, the cottage, the deer and trees) and I love what you did to enhance those fabrics. It is always fun to see what lovely creations others make with the fabrics. Superb job!
ReplyDeleteI also see that your world is surrounded with the same vintage finds and treasures that mine is. I think you are a girl after my own heart. :)
Thank you for sharing your detailed love of perfection that you put into your quilting and life. A treat to my eyes.
All the best, Sheri

Kerri, your quilt is darling! and I have tablecloth envy for your thrift store find. Vintage tablecloths are a favorite of mine, too. (I was the lucky winnr of the Vintage Grey re-styled tea towel.) Swoon! Would you kindly share what kind of sewing machine you like using for sewing and machine quilting? I'm gathering opinions before I buy one early 2013. Your machine quilting is really pretty. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKeri (with a K) :)
Thanks, Keri!!
DeleteMy sewing machine is a Pfaff, Classic Style Quilt. I love how it has the IDT and a specific position I put my lever to when I free motion quilt. It also was an affordable option compared to other quilting machines. Though, my opinion is probably biased since I haven't owned other quilting machines to compare to. But I'm happy with the one I chose. :)
I am utterly in love with those fabrics! Beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, for your sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteHugs!!
