munki string block

I finished my first official block for the Munki Munki Quilt Along last night! :) I am doing a string quilt out of mainly the pj collars, as I showed in a previous post. I'm also adding a few peek-a-boo strips of some older Munki Munki in there just for fun. Can you tell which two went in this block? It is going to be quite the bright and cheery quilt, I can tell already. I'm loving it! Anything to add brightness in my life is always great!!

The finished size is 13 1/2 inches, and to make the block, I used Ashley's fabulous tutorial. Thanks Ashely, you made it so easy and fun! :)

Hope everyone has a spooky week-end! ;)

princess in the pea block~ for heather!

This week-end I enjoyed a little sewing time, and did Heather's, Princess in the Pea block, for our quilting bee. It was my first time working with the Far, Far Away fabric, and it was fun! The double gauze isn't as scary as I thought it would be. I think I need to start getting more of a collection of this cutsie line. I only have two prints of my own, and I'm pretty sure they are feeling a little lonely. :)

Hopefully I'll get to my other sewing to do's this week. :)

ready to start

I have 3 projects I'm ready to start. :) First, the embroidery piece for the "hand stitched" embroidery swap. I got the embroidery pattern in the mail yesterday from Sublime Stitching, and even got to sneak out of the house last night without any kiddos to pick up a few more things. It was wonderful to be able to shop with out babies crying and having to rush to get what I needed.

Second, for the Pillow Talk Swap, I have the lovely Flea Market Fancy, picked out. Not sure if I'll end up using a little of everything. But I think my partner will love what I have in mind. :)

And third, I have a huge mound of collars from all the Munki Munki jammies that will be perfect for a fun and bright string quilt for the Munki Munki Quilt Along. I can't wait to try out Ashely's lovely tutorial. It has been on my list for quite some time. I think the improv blocks I made last month will make nicely into a wall hanging for my sewing room.

My little guy kept crawling over all the Munki so I couldn't pass up a cute little toesie picture!

These will be such fun projects!! Not to get to work!

a score...

is always so much fun!! Who doesn't just love finding something that you haven't ever seen? When I was on the phone a little over a week ago with Munki Munki, a rep mentioned to me that he had one pair of the Bikes I have Loved on a pink background. He said that they had been out of print for a couple years in that color and has had this pair in his office forever, and wanted to know if I'd like it. I don't think I could say YES fast enough, but trying to stay calm at the same time, since I didn't want to come off as a "munki freak" :) The color is more of a pale pink, and definately different from the Lightening bugs one. I'm sending half to Heather, and we are both more than happy to share in our wonderful swappy - poo group.

See ya next week! :)

wip wednesday~ woodland circles

This week I've been working on the woodland circles mini for the STUD group. I've been loving all the lovely circle quilts that Amber has been doing lately, so wanted to give one a try. It is so fun and simple, and I love how it gives a different look to the quilt.

For the quilting I stippled around the circles and still felt it was needing a little more to make it pop. After showing it to Heather, she suggested doing some sketchy circles. Thanks Heather, for the idea! I love how it added that needed touch.

Now all I have to do is the binding, and then it will be on its way to Suzy in Germany. :)

Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday!

fall online quilt festival

Last spring I took part in the online quilt festival hosted by Amy, and had so much fun seeing all the lovely quilts that were being showcased. The talent is sooo amazing, so make sure to take a few minutes to browse the fall quilt festival. We are all asked to share out favorite quilt, which is definately The Mysteries at the Market quilt. Maybe since it is all from my favorite fabrics. Heather Ross's lightening bugs, and Denyse Schmidt's flea market fancy. The wonky stars were so fun to make too, and the best part is seeing my daughter snuggled in it everyday!

My favorite block~ the recess star! I only have scraps of this fabric, and am so glad I was able to showcase it in the middle of a star!

Hope everyone is having a super spectacular week-end!

Yippie!! They just came in the mail yesterday, and I haven't been able to take them off since. I LOVE them!!

Aren't they the cutest shoes ever! And they even have mushrooms on them!! sooo flippin cute!!

Lily Red is now the newest in my collection from Ariel!! Isn't she the cutest!! I think I might need to add Polly Pinwheels next if she becomes available. Hint, hint! ;)

Now I just need to start working on a Little Red quilt, maybe when it is finished my obsession will be over, but probably not! ;)
