wip wednesday~ mini snowballs

I just started on my dqs7 mini yesterday after finally deciding on the snowball pattern. After seeing Kate's snowball quilt, I thought it would work great as a mini. My partner has gnomes in her flickr fav's, so am so excited I get to make another mini with gnomes. The blocks come together pretty quickly, and have a fun effect when put togther. What do you think of a simple tutorial?

My mom comes in today, so I might me mia for the rest of the week. Can't wait to see her. :)

munki munki quilt along

Last week Heather and I started a new flickr group, The Munki Munki Quilt Along! Both Heather and I had been talking for awhile about starting a Munki Munki Quilt, but how much more fun it sounded to have all our wonderful friends on flickr to quilt along with us! Once the idea came, we started it right away. We are already up to over 60 members!! If you haven't joined we would love to have you.

For the quilt along, we've kept it really simple. It officially starts in October, to give everyone some time to get their munki stashes ready. Everyone chooses their own style, size, colors, and pattern, and we quilt one block a month. We are also having a 5 inch charm swap to help acquire more variety in our stashes. This will simply just be fun, fun, fun!!

Heather and I seem to think alike; right away we went to making some blocks so there would be some examples in the photo pool. Our first ones used a lot of the same fabrics. :) It is so fun to have such a close friend to be able to talk to everyday about our passion and love for yummy fabrics and quilting!!

Everyone is welcome to start posting pictures of finished blocks or any handmade item made with the Munki Munki fabrics!! The more inspiration the better!

Heather and I's first blocks! See how we pieced the little blue gnome on the left!! I love it!!

After working on Ariels spiderweb block, I've been itching to make one with such bright and cheery colors, and this was the perfect quilt for it!! It will be going in my new studio on our comfy chair. I can't wait to also start working on some coordinating mini quilts to hang on the wall. I will have such a happy studio with these fun colors and fabrics!!

I hope everyone has a super spectacular week!

And the winner is...

Number 1. Can you believe the first commenter won!! I've always been afraid to be first to comment, since in my mind I think that the first person won't ever win. I just got proven wrong. Now, I will always jump for joy if I get to be number one!

Congradulations Deborah!! I hope you enjoy the one of a kind custom frame from Andrea, and the aqua and red charm pack from me!! :)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments! They were such a joy to read.

100's of charms!

This week I haven't gotten in any sewing time, but have been cutting and cutting lots of charms for charm packs for my shop. Some Heather Ross, Lightening Bug ones, some red and aqua ones, and today, Heather Ross, Mendocino charm packs. Phew, was that a lot!! I still am hoping to cut some pink and aqua ones for a set.

Hopefully this week-end I'll get some sewing time in. I sure need it! :)

Make sure to come back on Monday as I will be having a fabulous givaway! :)

ghome homes~ a pillow and terrarium

Yesterday I worked on a new pillow to go next to the hexegon one. I did my first embroidery, a mushroom house. I still need much more practice, but for my first attempt, I'm pretty pleased! One question about embroidery. I didn't use a hoop, and am wondering if that makes a big difference and if so why?

I also did a cutie little gnome home terrarium, which has been on my list for quite some time!! Ariel has a great how-to on her blog if you would like to make one. They are simple, fun, and sooo cute!! I've started on several others to add to my kitchen window since I just can't get enough of them!!

Hope you have a super spectacular week-end! I have my sister in town, and am so glad to get to have a few days with her!

See ya next week! ;)

Sew Deerly Loved~ One Month!!

It has been one month since I started Sew Deerly Loved! With over 80 sales, I would say it has been a fantastic month!! Yay!! There has been many new additions in the last week from some of Paula Prass' Flight of Fancy line, a few from Erin McMorris' Park Slope line, to some MM dots!! :)

I put in a large pre-order for some new Japanese fabrics, and should be getting those in at the end of August or early Sept. I also recently ordered from The Holland House for some super cute Little Red Riding Hood and gnome fabric, along with some of cutest trims/sewing ribbon.

Here is a little sneaky peaky to what is coming soon!

I really appreciate all the support that has been so generously given from all my blogging friends during my first month! THANKS!

Hope you have a wonderful week!
